Working towards a more productive, efficient and profitable sheep industry

As the sheep industry is embarking on a data revolution, it is time for producers to capitalise on the gains to be made.

Producers now have the capability of tracking individual animal performance, and are better able to benchmark their enterprise on a profit/ha basis.

It is critical that producers are collecting data relevant to the profit drivers of their breeding enterprise.

No matter your enterprise, there is always an application for data collection and management.

  • Sheep Genetics service provision

  • Data management for stud flocks

  • Commercial data management

  • On-farm data collection

  • EID equipment hire

  • Software help and support

Collecting pregnancy scanning data

Pregnancy scanning is another important tool in identifying efficient ewes. In this case, the scanner is determining both the number of foetuses (0-3) and estimating the age of pregnancy to first- or second-cycle conceptions. This will allow firstly, the preferential supplementary feeding of twin- and triplet-bearing ewes, and secondly ewes can be separated with a high degree of accuracy into early and late lambing groups, resulting in a tighter lambing period and easier subsequent management.
